harmony between horse and rider

community living

Young riders

Children are often very active and fearless riders, and the staff’s focus is usually to keep the young riders engaged and enthusiastic, while maintaining a safe environment for both rider and horse. Horses are carefully chosen to match the young riders’ experience and ability.

First time riders are taught basic skills of balance and control, while lessons for more experienced riders are varied and include flatwork, jumping and outrides. Respectful horsemanship and stable management form the core of the programme.

The Standard of Proficiency Test is taken once at the level. There are five levels, SoP level 1 being the entry level and SoP 5 designed for the advanced competitive rider.

Group lessons are run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the school term.

Alpha Equestrian’s Riding Academy also caters for children and young adults with special needs.

Anyone interested in joining Alpha Equestrian’s Riding Academy can contact Frances McCormick for more information.
