Clinics/ courses/ workshops

(Shared experiences)

Individual riding lessons - at the Alpha Equestrian Centre or in situ - are often complemented with clinics tailored to address riders’ expressed needs. In the past clinics were held on a wide range of subjects that included anatomy and movement, first aid, saddle-fitting, natural horsemanship, lunging techniques, jumping and stable management.

  1. Basic riding skills

  2. Dressage

  3. Show jumping

  4. Cross-country

  5. Equitation

  6. TREC *

  7. Basic horse-husbandry

  8. Grooms’ courses

Riders have the opportunity of joining one of three riding clubs:

  1. APC - Adult Pony Club (all level riders)

  2. JC - Junior Course

  3. SANESA Bridge House

* TREC events are based on the French discipline “Le Trec”. TREC was first introduced to Britain by the British Horse Society (BHS) in 1998, and has since become very popular in South Africa. The sport tests the rider on three disciplines: orienteering on horseback, the rider’s ability to control the horse’s pace, and a cross-country obstacle course.
